Our Story | Raised in the Desert, Rooted in the Islands
The Roots:
Every culture has a rhythm, a flavor, and a deep sense of community. For us, that rhythm is a beautiful blend of two distinct island heritages.
Born on the beautiful island of Guam to a family that is half Chamorro and half Filipino, island pride was flowing through our veins from day one. We learned early on that being from the islands isn't just about the soil you stand on—it’s about a values system, a deep respect for family, and a piece of your soul that you carry with you wherever life takes you.
The Growth:
When I was very young, my family made the move from Guam to Las Vegas. Growing up in the desert meant trading tropical beaches for the Mojave landscape, but it didn't mean losing who we were.
Even thousands of miles away from the Pacific, my childhood was filled with the sights, sounds, and tastes of home. I grew up surrounded by a massive, tight-knit family and a vibrant community of aunts, uncles, and cousins who made sure our culture thrived right here in the valley. Las Vegas isn't just a city to us—it’s a place where our people have built a home away from home. I am a product of both worlds: raised under the desert sun, but deeply shaped by island traditions.
That unique blend is exactly where GUPHI was born.
The Brand:
GUPHI (pronounced goo-fee) holds a double meaning for us. On the surface, it’s a tribute to our roots: GUam and the PHIlippines. But deeper down, it’s a mindset. Life loves to throw curveballs, and it’s easy to lose your smile in the chaos. GUPHI is a reminder to slow down, remember the good times with the people who matter most, and find that inner spark again. It’s permission to just be yourself, laugh out loud, and be unapologetically "goofy".
GUPHI is more than just an island lifestyle clothing brand. It is a celebration of culture and community. We cater to the islanders who have made their homes in new places, and the generations raised right here in the desert who refuse to let their heritage fade.
